Krescendo upgrades its SSL certificates to 2048-Bit RSA

Some time ago, in their publication SP800-57 on Computer Security,  the US National Institute of Standards and Technology recommended the use of 2048-bit RSA keys until 2030, moving away from 1024-bit on account of increased risks.

In response to this, the Certificate Authority/Browser Forum mandated that the Certificate Authorities must stop the support for 1024-bit RSA certificates for both SSL and code signing by the end of 2013. This industry-wide effort saw Google recently announcing their completion of SSL key changes.

Krescendo, which uses DigiCert certficates, completed this security upgrade on Sun 24 November.

For more details on the chances to break the new 2048-bit certificates see the maths provided by DigiCert: http://www.digicert.com/TimeTravel/math.htm. According to these, as of now, it would take a standard computer 6.4 quadrillion years to break our secure connections!
